October 1, 2007 - October 7, 2007:
What do you think will be the overall grade for the L train in next year's rider report card?
According to these results, almost half of L straphangers think the line will slightly improvement in the coming year. I was a little shocked that anyone thought the line would fall apart to complete shambles in the coming year & grade out at an F. I wonder if those straphangers are of the doomsday line of thinking. It was nice to see some feel the line will drastically improve to the point it would earn a B or a B+! Lets hope the MTA does right by L straphangers in the coming year!
Personally I think the line will still be in a huge transitional phase in the coming year. So I feel the line will either grade out the same or show a slight improvement. I don't expect a drastic jump in its grade for 2008.
September 24, 2007 - September 30, 2007:
Do you think the MTA will handle future storms properly?
The results of this poll were just about split down the middle. Unfortunately The MTA has barely convinced riders that they will be better prepared for future storms. However all is not lost as they can take some solace in knowing that they have a good percentage of riders who could be considered cautiously optimistic.
Personally I voted no, but I would not mind eating crow on this issue as that would mean the MTA has taken care of business!
September 17, 2007 - September 23, 2007:
Which of these proposed projects is most needed in today's transit system?
The Second Avenue Subway wins in a landslide! I myself voted for & expected to win this poll. I even thought the SAS would receive the majority of the votes. However I am shocked that it won in the biggest possible landslide. I understand that the sampling size is small but I do wonder if the majority of NYC feels the same way!
While it is quite obvious the SAS would not win with 100% of the votes if the sampling size was bigger, I do think it would get at least 70% of the votes.
September 10, 2007 - September 16, 2007:
Do you support the installation of platform doors for the 7 line extension or anywhere in the system?
Let me first thank everyone for making this the biggest poll turnout to date. The votes have been counted & the majority feel the platform doors are a bad idea & waste of money. I happen to strongly agree with the majority on this issue. I think the money could be better spent elsewhere.
August 29, 2007 - September 9, 2007:
Do you support the MTA wanting a fare hike?
The majority clearly shows that a fare hike is not supported. Unfortunately, I think it will take more than the public outcry to prevent it from happening soon.
Will the pending taxi strike cause problems with mass transit?
It seems that many felt the taxi strike would not cause problems with mass transit. I did not ride mass transit during the strike so I can't say for sure how much the strike affected mass transit commuting.
December 9, 2006 - January 4, 2007:
Does the Culver line need 3 lines of service?
The majority of voters do not think the Culver line needs 3 lines of service. I agree with the majority on this issue. While I believe the G needs to be extended to Church Ave, I don't see a need for the V along Culver.
I know the V is a line many find to be evil for the mess it has caused to F riders. I also know the majority would love to see the line become more useful. However I don't know if Culver is the place for it to make its mark.
October 17, 2006 - December 9, 2006:
Would having the Times Sq. Shuttle serve Penn Station be a good idea?
The majority of voters think it would be a good idea for the Times Square Shuttle to serve Penn Station. I for one voted yes as I think it would be a cheaper & better alternative to LIRR east side access. This is how I feel if there were enough cars to cover the huge crowds that would use the shuttle.
September 27, 2006 - October 16, 2006:
Do you think the MTA hit a P.R. homerun with the R160?
Well the majority has spoken & it seems the MTA hit one out of the park. I'm not surprised by the voting considering the public reaction I saw on its debut day.
I overheard a good number of compliments towards the train & how it performed. I guess riders got taken for a ride due to the "wow" factor. They clearly overlooked the real problems with service. The subway cars itself is far from being the real problem.
